The Revd Charles Richardson
Fr Charles has been Vicar of St John’s since 1998. He loves being here and enjoys the huge variety of people to be found in the congregation and parish.
Before coming to this parish he was Rector of Hastings, where he was also appointed Rural Dean. From 1986 until 1991 he was the Selection Secretary and Vocational Advisor of the Advisory Board of Ministry, during which time he also served as Priest Vicar at Westminster Abbey and St Margaret’s, Westminster.
Vocation continues to be a special interest. He is Vice-Chair of the Diocesan Ministry and Training Committee. At a national level he is a Senior Advisor on Bishops’ Advisory Panels. He is a Trustee of the Sons of the Clergy Corporation and Chair of the Friends of the Clergy Corporation and has participated fully in the amalgamation of these two major clergy charities.
He has edited a book on vocation, This is Our Calling - published by SPCK.
He enjoys gardening, family and friends and his Abyssinian cat.

Stephen Phillips, Churchwarden
Born and raised in a small town in South Wales, Stephen graduated in Law and Politics from the University College of Wales, Cardiff and moved to East Dulwich in 2001.
Stephen is the parish’s Stewardship and Gift Secretary and also one of the Pastoral Carers. He was elected Churchwarden in March 2007, having served as Deputy Warden in 2006.
For the last 24 years, Stephen has worked as a full time official for a political party.
In his spare time, Stephen supports the work of Amnesty International and sponsors a number of children abroad.
Robert Faulkner, Churchwarden
Robert was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone and has been a member of St John’s since 1998. He was elected as Churchwarden in April 2009 after being a Deputy. He continues as the church treasurer a role he has held for over four years also serving as a PCC member for the same length of time.
A qualified management accountant, Robert currently works in the transport sector.
He is married with two children and now lives in South Norwood.

The Revd Anne Clarke
Anne has worshipped at St John’s since 1988 and was ordained priest in October 2005.
The eldest of five children of the vicar of St Swithun’s, Hither Green. Anne has lived in East Dulwich with her husband, Peter Bibby, since 1977.
From 1975 to 1988 Anne taught English in secondary schools in Lambeth and Kent. She has been a lay magistrate at Greenwich and Woolwich courts since 1990 and sits on the Inner London Family Panel and is also a member of the Special Educational Needs Tribunal.
Anne’s interests include reading, theatre, travelling and walking.

The Revd Alistair McCulloch
As well as assisting at St John’s, Alistair is chaplain at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea. Ordained in 1987 he served two curacies in Portsmouth before becoming a Vicar in Reading and more recently chaplain at King’s College Hospital (in succession to the Revd Rosemary Shaw).
Alistair is especially interested in the area of world faiths and religious tolerance and has recently completed an MA in Inter-religious Dialogue at the University of London.

The Revd Jonathan Sedgwick
Jonathan Sedgwick is one of the honorary assistant curates at St John’s. He combines work as a civil servant in the Home Office with occasional ministry. He is particularly interested in trying to bring together the insights of the modern world - whether psychology, politics, literature, art or science - with the insights of the Christian tradition in order to show how each can illuminate the other.
He writes: "Having a busy and demanding full-time job makes me very conscious of how important Sunday worship is to recharge the batteries and to remember what really matters. I feel very privileged that I can contribute to that in a small way through sharing in the Ministry at St John’s."

The Revd Rosemary Shaw
The Revd Rosemary Shaw is a Non Stipendiary staff member. Most of her ministry has been in hospital chaplaincy at Maudsley, Kings and Guys and St Thomas’ hospitals.
Rosemary was Deputy Team Leader with responsibility for training and supervision at Guys and St Thomas’ until April 2007. She is now working on a part-time doctorate researching ministry. Rosemary first became a Christian through the S.A.
Supporting Fr Charles’ work in the parish, Rosemary also leads the newly formed bible study group. She continues her work in hospital chaplaincy at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust and is co-leader of a course in spiritual direction.
Rosemary has a son in his twenties and enjoys reading, cinema and theatre, acting and socialising with friends.
Eurica Shaw
An active member of St John’s Church, Eurica was commissioned into the SPA Ministry on 30 June 2009. Her main interest, outreach ministry, includes pastoral care to the less-abled in society. Eurica loves people and finds them fascinating.
Having previously worked in the NHS and the community, Eurica has taken further education courses in social sciences, gerontology and psycho-analysis. She has a strong liking for history, geography, current affairs and biblical studies and her hobbies include travelling, walking, singing, music and social events.

John Webber, Director of Music
John’s first appointment as an organist was at St Swithun’s, Hither Green when he was just 15! Since then he has held similar positions at St George’s, Beckenham, St George’s, Bickley and Chelsea Old Church.
John has been Director of Music at St John’s from 1993 to 1997 and again from February 2003. Since that time a Junior Choir has been re-established and the adult Choir has continued to contribute to the worship by the singing of anthems and the inclusion of solo items.
John gained his Royal College of Organist diplomas in 1967 and 1970, was awarded a Durham Bachelor of Music degree in 1982 and the Archbishops’ Diploma in Church Music in 1986.
John has been married to Maggie since 1982.
Jacobus Crowe, Deputy Churchwarden
Jacobus Crowe began worshipping at St John’s regularly three years ago. However, as a long term resident of Peckham and East Dulwich with his wife Jane, his association with the church stretches back over 40 years. Their two children were christened at St John’s as were his two grandchildren.
Jacobus, born in Cape Town, works full time as a civil servant based in Westminster. He is an active campaigner in local environmental matters and a supporter of local charities through regular donations. He maintains his connection with South Africa through his extended family and through his involvement in supporting and promoting the work of contemporary artists in and around Cape Town.
Sybil Dyke, Deputy Churchwarden
A regular member of St John’s congregation for over 20 years and a long-term resident of East Dulwich, Sybil has become increasingly active in the church. Both her two grown-up children attended church during their formative years and Sybil’s granddaughter attended St John’s school and is an acolyte at church.
Sybil does voluntary work at the weekly Thursday Lunch Club in the Goose Green Centre and particularly enjoys cooking the Jamaican cuisine she learned in her childhood.
Violet Hipplewith, Deputy Churchwarden
Violet Hipplewith was born in British Guiana (now called Guyana) and has been living in London since 1961. Now retired, she was previously employed with the Civil Service which ended due to family commitments. Later she worked as a finance officer at Guys and St Thomas hospital.
Violet has been worshipping at St John’s for about 13 years. During this period she has served as a sidesperson, a member of the PCC, the Deanery Synod and for a short period on the Boarrd of Church in Society. Currently she is about to finish her third year serving as a Diocesan Representative for Dulwich Deanery. Violet is also the Christian Aid representative for St John’s.
Sian Minett, Deputy Churchwarden
Born and raised in Lincolnshire, Sian and her partner, Rob, have lived and worked in many British cities before finally settling in Peckham in 1995.
Sian became a member of the congregation of St John’s soon afterwards and has been involved with the crèche, the Safeguarding Children working group and, more recently, has become a pastoral carer as well as serving on the PCC for two years.
Sian, Rob and their three children now live in Nunhead.

Irma Bell, Deputy Warden Emeritus
Irma served as Deputy Warden for two years and is now Deputy Warden Emeritus.
